The 2010 Brighton Jetty Classic has finished. A fantastic race, congratulations to James Fennell for his 3rd consecutive victory and Kallie Rump, the 2009 Open mens and Open Womens Champions.

CHANNEL 7 BRIGHTON JETTY CLASSIC SOUTH AUSTRALIA

SUNDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2011

Why not get in the “Swim” and join the multi award winning, Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic, the largest ocean swimming event in South Australia. Great prizes are awarded for each race, including over $4,700 total in cash for the top three Male and Female swimmers in the Open 1500m and the City of Holdfast Bay Fast Lap 400m swim around the jetty.

The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic is more than just swim events, with many other attractions making it a ‘Classic Day’ at the Beach for the whole family including:
• Community Carnival
• 2011 Home & Away Stars Launch
• Rowdown- a celebrity Surfboat race between the Crows, Power & other celebrities
• Adelaide Airport Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures
• Final of the SA Short Course male and female Surfboats
• SA Paddlesports Open Water Ski Racing
• Live entertainment on stage
• Street stalls and displays

Whats New in 2011!

Win a lunch date with the Home & Away Stars at the 2011 Event

Fundraising for participating club & charitable organizations, by having family and friends sponsor swimmers. All funds raised from the BJC “Sponsor My Swim Around the Brighton Jetty” will go directly to the participating charity/community club of choice.

You also might want to consider:

BJC 7 Year Club completion of swimming at BJC in 7 years not necessarily consecutively (either 400 or 1500 or a combination)
BJC Super 7 Club completion of 7 consecutive years of BJC (either 400 or 1500 or a combination)
• Reward your sporting, community or charitable organization with a $5 donation for each entry
• Leading up to the event there is the Brighton Jetty Classic Come & Try Open Water Swim Program held every Saturday in November, December & January at 2.45pm at Brighton Beach. This training benefits participants to become fit & active, to participate in the Brighton Jetty 400, the Brighton Jetty Classic 1500 or City of Holdfast Bay Fast Lap (subject to conditions).

ABOUT THE SWIM

Entries open 1st November, 2010
• All who register before the 6th January will go into the draw to win a lunch date with the “Home & Away Stars” at the 2011 event
• All competitors receive Rival race cap, downloaded BJC Certificate and Brighton Jetty Classic bag
• If registered by the 6th January 2010 there will be an offer to purchase at cost a unique male/female 7 BJC 2011 T/Shirt or Singlet

The Jetty 400

• Beach start and 400m swim
• All swimmers will be electronically timed
• Minimum Age 10 on the day
• Separate male and female aged categories

Age Groups
>10 to 11 >30 to 39
>12 to 13 >40 to 49
>14 to 15 >50 to 59
>16 to 17 >60 to 69
>18 to 29 >70+

The City of Holdfast Bay Fast Lap (Prize Monies 1st 300 – 2nd $200 – 3rd $100 male & female races)
400m around the jetty, beach start and finish
To qualify for this event nominate a 200m freestyle time

The Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic 1500
• Water start, 1.5km in distance
• Minimum age 12 on the day
• Separate male and female aged categories

Age Groups
>12 to 13 >40 to 49
>14 to 15 >50 to 59
>16 to 17 >60 to 69
>18 to 29 >70+
>30 to 39 >Channel 7 Open (Prize Monies 1st $1,000 – 2nd $500 – 3rd $250 male & female races)

Location: Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, Cnr. Bindarra Reserve and Esplanade Brighton South Australia

• Swimmers are welcome to swim in more than one event
• Entries close online 5pm, Friday 4th February 2011
• Entries in age groups will close earlier, if the race limit has been reached for that age group
• Entry fees are non-refundable or transferable

Cost Event Entry: Individual event: $27.50 plus choice of T/Shirt/Singlet at cost if registered by the 6th January 2010

*If race limit has not been reached entries will be allowed on the day but swimmers will be offered a swim, not timed and are ineligible for prizes
