Friday 23rd January 2009 – Sunday 1st February, 2009
INTRODUCTION
The Adelaide Airport Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures by the sea will be held in conjunction with the Brighton Jetty Classic Swims and Rowdown and will be situated at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club rooms, Esplanade, Brighton and adjacent areas from Friday 23rd of January to Sunday 1st February, 2009. The event will have a state wide and community focus with significant media coverage by Channel 7 and FIVEaa.
The Adelaide Airport Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures by the sea was inspired by Brighton Surf Life Saving members after experiencing ‘Sculptures by the Sea’ at Cottesloe Beach, WA in 2007, the latter event being modelled on the now famous ‘Bondi Sculptures by the sea’.
Our vision is to continue to hold a major arts event in conjunction with the successful, annual ‘Brighton Jetty Classic Swim’. The combination of both arts and sport is a unique and successful community event.
Sculptures large and small for outdoor or indoor display will be made from multi media compositions i.e.; wood, wire, glass, metals, stone, clay, plastics, cement etc. While continuing with the successful exhibition of indoor sculptures, we have substantially increased the prize money for large outdoor sculptures.
